Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Questers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
